We’ve been having very heated discussions here in the DrJays.com office over the best rapper alive.
Our college-aged interns are convinced it’s Lil Wayne, whereas those of us in our twenties say that’s blasphemy and Jay-Z is the man.
We want you guys to join in on the debate and let us know who you think it is?

I’m 21, I’ve been listenin to Jigga since he had the fast flow in that video with the hawaiian lookin shirt. On the flipside i’ve been a weezy fan since him and BG were a group (the B.G.’s) So with that being said, Jigga’s first 5 solo albums (since weezy hasn’t released his sixth) I would say Jay’s got him. Vol. 1-3 were classics, Tha Block is Hot, Lights Out were street bangers but Weezy wasnt ready to carry the label on his back when everyone left (500 Degreez??) But Jay came in the game already mature, Weezy grew up listenin to Jay just like the rest of us. Weezy has just hit his prime during the sqad tapes and The Carter I and II. To say Jay is the best rapper alive is arguable, as a weezy fan i am biased. But i will say weezy is well on his way to being remembered well beyond Jay-Z. Weezy is to the south what Biggie was/is to the East. Jay is to the East what Master P was/is to the South.

2Pac! may be dead but he sure has released a lot of albums after that Vegas night keeping it alive. E40, Andre Nickatina (Dre Dog), B-Legit, all good. If you ask me Lil Jon, Ying Yang Twins, Lil Wayne and all those south side rappers are part of hip hops fall. Soon as the song Get Low came out, sounds went all down hill!

Nas is the best rapper alive but he’s lazy as hell so no one even thinks about him, becuz u rarely see him. but he does has the best music catalogue out of any rapper alive and dead jus off his unreleased stuff alone, Nas is the best alive even though his last album was subpar but not as bad as kingdome come.

Real talk, the younger generation needs to pay attention to wat went before them. Weezy is not half the **** he claims to be, didnt u see how dat **** acted on the stage he is a boy wit a cold flow. Though many criticize my opinion because they weren’t long lived in the game. Jay Z has been in the game for a minute but I feel Jay Z can be KING sometimes and then he does the usual and puts out a weak as track here and there. I have yet to hear a track that BIGGIE falls off..

The question is not who is your favorite rapper, its who is the best rapper. This includes style, creativity, lyrics, versatility
Jay Z is good as hell, but when it comes to all the qualities of a good rapper, i’m sorry but waynes got the most, he can remix almost any song and keep the same damn tune, he never sounds the same and you never know whats he’s gonna say next he’s an entertainer. Sure he may be a damn junkie but **** if he’s still that damn smart after all that brain damage this mutha ****a is a genius, and no just cuz u high dont just make u a good rapper **** it helps but lil wayne got a lot more then being high to help his game. This dude has his own style, if you were to read a song of lil waynes that you never heard b4 just by the lyrics you could tell it was wayne, whereas Jay-Z on the other hand you couldn’t.

Nas, Talib Kweli, Hell Rell, Jay, and Young Buck.
Nas: He has been a mainstay in the game and is truly one of those rappers who can talk a conversation on a song and it will still be good. He thinks outside the box and feeds a need that other mainstream rappers dare not touch.
Talib: He is a serious dude and takes you through a metaphorical roller coaster on every song.
Hell Rell: Dude can rhyme! Although he is mostly underground, his music is something I would choose over “Lollipop” any day simply because he is like a Wayne who grew up in a real project, doesn’t rap while on drugs, speaks coherently enough for me not to have to worry if he might pass out before the end of the song, and he has some SERIOUS punchlines that Lloyd Banks and alot of other freestylers can’t touch. He should have at least been nominated.
Jay-z: When he isn’t talking about how rich he is, he is someone who we as a people can relate to and he leaves us wanting to learn more about him. Basically, he deserves a big throne, and if I were him, I would have slapped Wayne across the mouth, sending him home to Baby to kiss his booboos.
Young Buck: If you only listen to mainstream, you are being fed garbage. Most people who think of Buck think of “Shorty Wanna Ride” and “Get Buck”. Yet if you buy the album, you find a completely different person who can tell a story as good as Pac could. His songs make you think and impress upon your brain feelings, even if you’re not paying attention to the song. He is truly one of the most underrated rappers and deserves to be in T.I.’s place any day. He represents an area that is only known for 3 6 fagia. He skips through their bull**** and paints a true picture of what it is. .
Last of all, you should be ashamed of yourselves for those who follow mainstream and the radio only. The radio repeats the same songs every 3 hours, so its all the same crap that the 14 year old white girls want to listen to. Dig deeper and you will find GOLD, a realm where once you discover it, you will never go back.
1 more thing on my advice to hip-hop: we need two genres of rap: one for the club songs so all the white ****es will be happy while they wait for their moms to pick them up afterschool. THE OTHER, REAL GENRE where no **** with one hit single for ringtone sales can take over. And we need to enforce this so that there is a BET1 and a BET2, each for the specific genres. There should be two radio stations, one playing Soulja Boy crap and the other playiing Nas. Until that day, rap will be on life support, waiting for the embarrassment to go away. NO MORE GAY RAP. NO MORE STUPID TEEN ****S THINKING THEY’RE HARD BECAUSE THEY LISTEN TO V.I.C. AND APPROACH YOU LIKE THEY KNOW WHY RAP WAS CREATED. AND THEY ARE THE ONES WHO NEED TO BE EXTINGUISHED FROM WALKING THE EARTH. THEY CAN GO LISTEN TO THEIR ****TY EMO MUSIC OR WATEVER!!!!!!!

Over 2.5 Milli sold. Personal opinions don’t mean **** because everybody has one. You gotta look at the numbers being put up because that is a direct reflection of who the people feel are the best. As much as I hate to say it, Lil Wayne is currently the best rapper alive. If anybody else was better then they would’ve put up better numbers because the people would’ve supported them. Facts are facts, Wayne’s album got bootlegged 2 weeks before it dropped and he still broke records. Personally, I’m a 3 Stack fan but I can’t deny a fact.
