Thats South is basically taking music back 2 its orginal form, an the party music club music dance music. Rap history repeats its self an moves region 2 region fools. The South is jus on right now. The West has been The Mid West has been on up North as well an the list goes on. Regardlessof WHY those acts are making music - whether it’s for parties, strip clubs, etc - the FACT is they are among the worst rappers ever. I don’t give a damn if they care less about being regarded as a great rapper; as “rappers” they suck. Case closed.

Most of the music they play on the radio now a days is trash. You have to listen to underground/indie artists to find great lyrical content (i.e. The Roots, Little Brother, Zion I, etc, etc.). I can’t say all music from the South is trash, cuz a lot of the artists in the Justus League are from the South and they can definitely flow with anybody from any other reagion…but for the most part…all that ish from the South/MidWest is corny. I don’t care if you want to call it party music/club music or whatever…that stuff is a bunch of nonsense put over a “hot beat” with mad bass. You don’t have to break down anything to realize that it’s trash.

rap albums were normally message laden with party songs as filler for radio play. now payola determines who is a hit. compare lyrics of canibus or eminem (clever psychotic punches) nas (the man has range) to mims (garbage to a beat) or any damn rapper who can only rap about pu$$i, cash, or cars (tony yayo, lil wayne (who here see him as anything gangster-i know irish cats that are more OG in their sleep)). most kids couldnt decipher canibus (complex comcepts+pathetic beats aside+ sad as$ producers))-why is Hip Hop n rap dead?, poor quality schools lowering the quality of all minds. save our schools and save hip hop…..

Now to say who is the worst 10 rappers in Hip Hop is a very broad question. Because within Hip Hop are sub categories which an artist may pertain to. For instance, house music, club music, etc. Not all artists out there are main stream Hip Hop being like Outkast dipping in all the sub categories or Lil Wayne staying true to his gangster theme. So in my opinion the worst ten rappers in generic Hip Hop would be Master P, Young Jeezy, Tony Yayo, Ja Rule, Lil Romeo, Bowwow, Young Rome, I-20, Chingy, and K Fed. I didn’t include Dj Unk. Dj Khaled, or Soulja Boy because what the produce is not rap but club and or house music.

Also, to add one person up here seemed to have it partly true…the south didn’t necessarily kill hip hop but for the most part they are the reason it’s dying now. The only really good rappers from the south are:Lil Wayne, T.I., Ludacris, and outkast and in many cases you could consider Outkast as MC’s. Reading through this discussion board it’s obvious that OUR generation is clearly deprived and this is evidence in itself that hip hop is in critical condition. Don’t speak about hip hop if you can’t name at least 2 songs by Afrika Baambata and the Zulu Nation or if you can’t name every member in Boogie Down Productions. This forum is sad, half(not everybody) in this discussion really need to study your history before you come on here talking about the best or worst rappers. Before you can comment on anything about rap you need to know what is the difference between a rapper and a MC.

I’m from detroit , I think rappers from NY are the best lyrically , but the south is banging right now. Hip-hop is just not the same , it’s changing. Instead of trying to compare it. Lil Wayne is the worst rapper EVER. But 90% of Southern Rap is garbage… Besides people like T.I., Ludacris, Big Boi, Young Jeezy, and Scarface there is no good rappers from the south. Rappers like Paul Wall, David Banner, Lil Wayne, and all those fruity groups like The Shop Boyz and Dem Franchise Boyz just make me understand why people say rappers have no talent. I like how everyone is straying away from the issue, Hip Hop is a culture and rappers are representatives of Hip Hop, so actually Rappers are dead not Hip Hop, as time flew by rap and rap culture became label puppets for money, i remember when Hip Hop was an exclusive culture that belonged to the impovrished ( hope i spelled that right ) as means of escaping everyday drama, as soon as it got commercialized it became something of a gimmick, so every rapper now that’s doin’ it for means of getting rich, straying from the original content, poisoning the newer generations into thinking that this is the real Hip Hop, is whack! I don’t think you can exclude anybody from this list. If they spit 16s then they’re open for critisism. I don’t like the defense that certain guys only rap for the money, to me thats worse than an actual bad rapper cuz you don’t want to become the best. What does that say about your motivation when you don’t want to be on top of your game. Hip hop becomes a formula or a pattern cuz you make music that you know someone will buy instead of making music that expresses what you think and feel. That’s why they say hip hop died. I don’t even call them artist, I call them professionals cuz they just good at making money. My list is mims, d4l, shop boys, k-fed, soulja-boy(goddamn I can’t stand him), and gucci mane. and for the worst of the worst: silk da shocka, piles, and roscoe p. coldchain. Those are three guys who can’t find the beat let alone rap.

I’ve had the chance to read through the majority of this blog and find it amazing that we all take the time out to name the worst rappers in our own opinion, but hip hop and rap is so much more than that, it’s a culture to express yourself and if a i can reflect on a few artists. My generation started with the fore fathers of hip hop DOUG E FRESH, BIG DADDY KANE , SLICK RICK AND RUN DMC to name a few and it has evolved so much. My kids generation like JAY Z , TUPAC, BIGGIE SMALL AND 50 CENT TO NAME A FEW and the generation after them now like the HURRICANE CHRIS, LIL MAMA’S, MIMS, AND DEM FRANCHISE BOYS to name a few. What we must realize no matter how different the music has evolved it will continue to do that when the next generation grow up and we all somehow will find a way to adapt to it. Alot of the older artist paved the way to aleast get a chance to listen to all the different styles of hip hop and rap, who rarely get recognized. This is a movement of keeping our culture alive weather it’s the old skool hip hop or the new skool rap. LET’S JUST KEEP THE CULTURE ALIVE BECAUSE WE NOW HAVE OTHER PEOPLE BOPPING TO OUR BEATS.

ok J’famous hip hop was never dead for the south to revive it. Real Hip-hop was just buring underground by the heaping pile of garbage that is MTV and most radio stations. By the way there hasn’t been one good rapper from the south recently. Only a few southern rappers did things right in my opinion and they include Andree 3000, Scarface, and UGK.

i think the whole rap scene is going through a transitional phase. me personally i prefer my mixtape & more gangsta hip hop as appose to the much hyped commercial hip hop. rap is not like what it used to be, now days you have clowns spittin about anything & everything that doesn’t have immidiate connection to the hip hop. as we are on the subject of worst rappers i would indeed like to get some duck tape & tape around those rappers from the south, with a couple exceptions (luda & t.i.). yes u say their big in the clubs but its mainly bull****. its killin hip hop period because the sound is cheesy.

O,my bad, the ULTIMATE worse rapper in my book is Baby. Man, I lose interest instantly whenever he starts flowing. His voice is monotone. He sounds bored(and therefore,BORING!!!!) (always) he never says anything clever, and he never talks about anything other than material excesses that most of us will never possess. Now,while I overstand the temptation to do such a thing when you come from an impoverished background(like most of us) and I also know that “conscious” rappers or what have you have there place(in other words,everybody cant be Common,or Mos, or deadprez) but I also think that with financial success, you attain a broader worldview than just your hood, or your pjs, or your city. I think there’s a responsibility to open peoples’ eyes to some things they may never have considered and don’t know about.
What it comes down to is $. “If I expose this,this, and that,I won’t make as much $”-is the thought process, so they continue to mindlessly scream about money!money!money! to direct peoples’ focus elsewhere than where they should be looking.

As I go through the list, I see one glaring theme throughout the blog. People are naming rappers just because they can’t stand them. Now I understand not everyone is going to like guys like Jay-Z, Nas, Lupe Fiasco, and Cam’Ron. But you still have to respect them because they truly are great rappers. If you don’t know that, then you don’t break down lyrics, which means you shouldn’t comment about something that you don’t know about. I’m not a big fan of Lil’ Wayne and Big, but I’m the first to admit that these guys are legends who have changed the game and will murder any track. You can’t call someone wack just because you don’t like them, wack rappers are wack because they lack skill, motivation, creativity, and hunger.
