Miskeen launches Art Culture collection
July 2nd, 2008 · Filed under Style by bossladyArt Culture by Miskeen Originals
Miskeen Originals is launching Art Culture, a new collection designed by 24 year old new talent Trish Still.
Art Culture is described as a sophisticated, urban label where explosive bright colors mix with the dark side of the gothic renaissance look. Sound contradicting? That’s exactly what’s so exciting about it.
Art Culture sees the half black, half Latina designer in charge of her entire design team. Her fresh energy and unspoiled creative talent demand respect and attention.
Still, born in Camden NJ, is ready to take this line to the top. “I am very thankful for having this opportunity,” she says. “Miskeen has proven again to look at artistic skills rather then age, gender or color.”
Art Culture will disrupt the market every month with a new group. It’s a full collection including jackets, jeans, button-ups and hoodies, all spiced up by caviar beads, appliqués, foil and embroidery.
With Art Culture, Trish Still leads the industry into the next generation of design, a generation where art meets fashion. Keep an eye out for Art Culture coming soon to DrJays.com.

This look is ugly. These designs hurt my eye because there is too much unneeded detail. No one can tell what graphics and designs are on these clothes if they don’t look for more than five minutes. Bright colours are very nice but ‘Gothic renaissance’ is pure garbage. Bright colours represent joy, youth and all things good. Gothic renaissance is gloom, doom, Charles Dickens, dark ages and played out ugly old English font. Mixing Gothic with bright colours IS A CONTRADICTION THAT WILL NEVER WORK. Bright colours worked in the early nineties because they flowed with the aura of GOLDEN AGE HIPHOP. This Gothic look is ugly. It works for heavy metal and Marilyn Manson but not for the foreseen rebirth of hip-hop.

To yoyo, and to all the others who are looking for a cleaner look reminiscent of the good old days, watch out for Privilege and tell Dr. Jays and your other favorite retailers that y’all want cleaner clothing lines with realistic universally wearable colors like Privilege (or similarly “clean” brands — I don’t want to claim that we’re the only ones out there going the opposite direction from the rest of the market). Buyers ain’t mindreaders, yknow. They think that’s all you want so they give you what you want. They do want their stores to sell so they really mean well. I was a buyer back in the day so I know. lol.
We’re gonna be at MAGIC this August on the streetwear level so whoever’s gonna be there, stop by and check it out.
To see part of our Fall 2008 collection, check our our Myspace page [www.myspace.com/privilegeapparel] and add us to your friend list for more updates. Unfortunately, the colors of the images are not as vibrant as they should be, but you can just blame Myspace for that. lol. Our flash website/online boutique should be up and running by August and you’ll be able to see the entire fall collection and some previews of our Holiday/Spring 09 collections.
Peace.
