Karl Lagerfeld wants to be down
August 26th, 2008 · Filed under Other by KeeseanKarl Lagerfeld as a rapper
Karl Lagerfeld is a design icon in the high-fashion world;designing labels as prestigious as Fendi, Chanel and even an extremely capsule collection for H&M.
He is, to say the least, a fashion “Jack of all trades,” but his latest fashion fantasy caught us all by surprise.
In the September 2008 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, the editors decided to ask designer who their dream personality would be. No one thought Lagerfeld would choose to become a rapper!
I guess Jay Z, The Notorious B.I.G and Talib Kweli were on to something after all.

He kinda looks like that one movie with steve martin and queen latifah. The one where steve was trying to be all hood lol. I think he needs one of us to actually show him how to do it instead of looking like a renegade member out of the “warriors” movie.
Haha whaddup lux can’t hate on what you say at all cause it is true. Even some of the people who hate on black folk immitate us. Whaddup russ and chaz.

“Tight azz jeans…” “Cracker/Metrosexual…”
Lol! Not surprised by the comments of on this particular website.
Those jeans Lagerfeld is rockin are HARDLY tight. This dude is a fashion icon so calling someone of his stature in the fashion world a metrosexual is not only besides the point, it’s downright stupid.
Trust me, in the next few years every grown-a@@ dude still rocking baggy-a@@ Girbaud ‘Shuttle Jeans’ and long white t-shirts will be up on the streatwear style… Unfortunately by then, it will be played. Look at what happened when lames and buffoons like Soulja Boy and the rest of these Steppin Fetchit clowns, who’ve turn Hip Hop into a modern day minstrel CRUNK show, started wearing BAPE — it’s played as all hell now.
It’s a shame cuz Hip Hop culture used to be on the cutting edge, setting all the trends in urban fashion. Now dudes in the hood will take at least three more years to get with the program and starting rockin descent fitting clothes and hop on the skateboard trend. LOL!
Proof: Look at Jay-Z, a Hip Hop legend who not too long ago was still rockin long white t-shirts and Rocawear denim. Now the brotha is trying so hard to hop on Crooks & Castles and other streetwear brands, but can’t seem get his fit right (tight hoodys with extra baggy jeans). Nas is the same way but for the most part, he got his fit right. Now Lil Wayne and all these Downsouth dudes is rockin Supras and what not.
Point is, give you cats a few more years and y’all will finally start wearin Alifes and Vans Half Cabs, and act like it’s something new.
Hahahaha!

Vans, supras, gourmets, sb dunks, alifes, claes, etc, etc crooks and castles orisue triko artful dodger, blood sweat and tears, monarchy, gold coin, the loots grn apple man i could go and on but clothes do not make you its an extra even if you wear the hottest and latest you will can still be a lame and swag or charisma you have to be born with and lets be honest clothes these days arent made for the hood be in order to be UP on things you wear it!!! Im not selling myself out wearing clothes that these labels know black people wear but still wont make clothes that fit our bodies My man Rick is 6′2 and 200lbs solid but you aint catching him in them skinny rock star jeans cuz they hot in the streets bottom line. Rick and I arent selling selves out to be different or to be hot we stick to classics and every now then step out the box with a clothing label that has a outfit that fits us!! Im not wearing no skinny white boy jeans tho cuz its hot!! True religion changed its fits on jeans to cater to the urban market as did antiks and ed hardy!!! Bottom line make the change if you want to make the money!!!

The new debate tomorrow should be wats the hottest clothingline out rite now??? And has the fashion industry run out of ideas has everthing been done and why we repeating fades from 20-25 years ago?????
August 27th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
Oh, word? Have you some of ish Jay be rockin? There’s no doubt the brands he’s wearing are how but he looks foolish wearing snug cardigans with baggys jeans. Its a fit that don’t look right on him. I’m sorry if folks think the dude can do no wrong cuz he is indeed a legend in the game. He simply don’t look good in most of the streetwear he rocks. His taste in suits, on the other hand, stay on point.
Now Mos Def, Bun B, most of the time Nas, know how to rock the streetwear fits regardless of bein older heads in the game.
And as for the other dude sayin he ain’t gonna rock no skinny, white boy, rock star jeans, boy, oh boy, oh boy I’ll tell ya… Who ever said muggs had to. The fact is, baggy jeans is out, I don’t care if people wanna argue about hopping trends and what not…. Styles and trends change so it makes little difference to me to hear someone say, “I don’t follow fads.” No one is saying dudes gotta rocks some tight Dukes Of Hazzard lookin, Wrangler jeans. Just look descent with a nice, clean fit is all — particularly if you are over 25 years of age.

“why we repeating fades from 20-25 years ago?????” ~ Luxury
Ain’t hard to tell… Fashion flows in cycles and often times repeats itself. When an old trend is reborn, it may be because people feel a sense of nostalgia for the past; some designers like to take something from back in the day, put a twist on it, and give it a refined look.
Personally, I like the idea of recyling old trends from the 80s and early 90s (if it’s done right, of course) cuz it reminds me of a time when Hip Hop actually meant something to my generation. It went through periods of being fun and B-Boyin in the park, to the Afrocentric phase when we rocked beads, paisley shirts, and read ish on ancient African empires. That’s how fashion can be a powerful tool of expression, in the hands of an innovative designer.

what everybody seems to forget is that there are us big dude sin the world too. tight and skinny jeans don’t look good on us. it seems that nowadays trends only target the “pretty people”
August 28th, 2008 at 1:11 am
lux and yung yall are right. bigga guys can’t wear tight jeans …it jus won’t look right. but me im 6′2 and about 190 and I can’t do it either. But I do think that rockin a nice pair of fitting jeans…meaning some that fit your waist and aren’t so big in the thigh, but loose, is cool. And even as a big dude…loose, not baggy, jeans look good. I got a homie that play center in college and he bout 300 but he rock loose fittin jeans and they seem like they be straight. But it’s cool to stick to the classics too. You can neva loose wit a nice polo, jeans and a fresh pair of kicks…neva. No matta how old you are.
As far a finalist goes, you are on point as well; except 4 on that boi jigga cuz every time i see em he got on a nice fit of jean…at leats in my eyes. But trends change and I wouldn’t call it seelin out to keep up. Me myself, bein in H-town, I see alot of cats rockin fitteds, a fitted shirt, tighter jeans and forces, chucks, j’s or what have you. I tried to get away from wearin hats as much cuz most times when u look up nowadays, all the cats who wouldn’t wear em a few years ago do now. But me, I like the japanese type street style so I’m tryin to up my game to some of the hot gear like crooks, alife, obey, orisue, lemar and dauley and so on. And i kno alot of cats won’t but i will prolly start rockin nas new line of filas cuz they hot and creative recs, supras, bk, public royalty and kicks like that. I like to be a trail blazer when it comes to the gear but now a days its really gettin hard to be up on somethin new unless ur really on it cuz guys find out quick. But in conclusion…it’s all in what you like. Do you. Wut up lux, rick, yung, chaz, finalist!!!

Well, I’m also a big guy too as well, so I kinda like my denim shorts baggy but not WAY too baggy. As for jeans, I like it loose and gives my legs ventilation. In contrast, I don’t like my jeans so tight as if I stole my girl’s pants. I agree with some of you guys, the world is not filled with pretty people, there are some big people also. To be honest, you won’t see DJ Khaled, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, Bone Crusher, Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E, Ice Cube, WC, and other big rappers wear skinny jeans. Even skinny rappers like Snoop Dogg you won’t see him wearing tight pants, although he dresses very nice in pimp suits and tuxedos. In addition, you won’t see any gangsta rapper rockin’ skinny pants.
There are some rappers that don’t even follow today’s fashion trends, especially in the case of DMX, The L.O.X, and the Ruff Ryders family. Even though X is in his mid 30’s, his outfit is still consists of baggy pants and Timberland Boots. Although I saw Jadakiss rockin’ a green Famous Stars and Straps shirt in a Birdman song “Poppin’ Bottles”, he’s still keepin’ it hood, period.
In the end, it’s all in what that person prefer to wear. or in other words, the choice of what you wear is always up to the person. If you wanna rock the new trends, cool. but if you wanna rock the outfit hood style, more power to those people. thank you.
